“Mick Fleetwood” Car Hood

“Mick Fleetwood” is a painting on a 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood car hood. This was a part of a much larger project “Shifting Gears: The Making of and Art Car”, where a small group of students, another faculty member, and myself each selected a car hood from Pic-N-Pull (a local auto junk yard). We each painted our hoods in different styles and themes.  My painting included aluminum foil adhered to the “wing” sides of the hood creating a spider web texture, brush painted and then hard roll painting of the highlights. The main design was taped in first and then sponge painted and finally details drawn. The entire painting is coated with a clear coat of water-based polycrylic.
